Homeopathy A Mode Of Healing
Homeopathy is healing without taking drugs to suppress symptoms. Homeopathy’s holistic healing approach examines the person’s illness along with lifestyle before administering a remedy. The practitioner looks to nature for cures and works with the body’s natural processes to allow it to heal itself. Homeopathy is based on two principles – the “Law of Similars” and “Minimal Dose.”
The Law of Similars follows the premise that “like cures like.” For example, if you’re coming down with a cold or having an allergy attack with watering eyes and a burning nose, a homeopathic doctor, recognizing that onions produce the same symptoms, might recommend a micro-dose of Allium cepa to help your body heal itself. The Law of Minimal Dose is the standard by which homeopathic doctors formulate remedies so they contain the least amount of medicine needed to evoke a healing response. Through a series of dilutions in parts, the potency of medicines is increased. (The FDA recognizes homeopathic remedies.)
Homeopathic healing pathways are very different from herbal medicine. “Herbal medicine uses tinctures of botanical substances, whereas homeopaths use ultradilute “micro” doses made from not only plants, but minerals or any other substance found in nature. National Center for Homeopathy
Homeopathy dates back to Hippocrates (ca. 400 B.C.) where the Law of Similars is evident. In the early 1800s, German doctor and chemist Samuel Hahnemann developed the medical science of homeopathy by administering small dosages of preparations to himself. Homeopathy has an impressive record of working more successfully than conventional medicines in historic epidemics such as the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, the cholera and typhus epidemics in 1860-1900s in Europe, and in the 1849 Cholera epidemic in Cincinnati.
Second Most Popularly Used Medicine In The World
The World Health Organization estimates that 500 million people worldwide use homeopathy, making it the second most widely used medicine in the world.
In England, France, Germany and the Netherlands, homeopathy is included in the National Health Service. Pakistan, India, Australia, Brazil and many more countries readily utilize homeopathy in hospitals and clinics, and it is widely taught in medical schools. In the United States, homeopathy at one point had been almost extinguished by conventional medical proponents – in the 1950s there were as little as 50-100 pure homeopathic practitioners. However, in the mid-1970s there was a resurgence of homeopathy, and homeopathic products sales increased by millions. Conventionalists began adding homeopathic therapies into their practices and pharmacy chains recognized the business potential in the products.
Homeopathy And The Flu
Conventional medicine does not cure the flu or cold, instead it takes care of the symptoms. Homeopathic remedies actually do cure the flu.
“The greatest difficulty in treating virulent forms of influenza for conventional medicine is mutation. Today’s ‘super bugs’ often mutate producing more virulent forms of the flu that vaccination programs find difficulty keeping pace with.
“Homeopaths adapt treatment based on the individual’s unique expression of symptoms, thus making homeopathy better equipped to handle viral mutations. Homeopathic remedies enable the body defense mechanisms to fight viral infections and bring back vital health into the system,” states Francine Kanter, RsHom, CCH, Board Certified Practitioner on Kauai, Hawaii.
What To Look For And Ask Yourself When Interviewing A Homeopathic Practitioner:
1. Where did they receive their homeopathy certification?
2. How long have they been in practice?
3. How large is the patient load?
4. Does he or she have any medical affiliations in the community?
5. What is his or her referred healing modality?
6. Are the office hours and availability acceptable?
7. Do you feel a connection with his or her communication style?
Homeopathy effectively strengthens the vital life force in a person by using natural remedies and following nature’s healing processes. Homeopathic medicine has no side effects, is non-evasive, safe and effective for adults and children.
