The basic facts: A Dog has the digestive tract of a wolf and wolves are natural scavengers. Their instinct is to eat rotting left over kills or fresh kills from the pack. We have domesticated our pets and for the most part ruined our dog’s digestive systems with processed food and chemicals. Dogs were not designed for these types of food, neither were we for that matter!
Wellness Dog Food At Any Age
This is Rosalini a 4-year-old Italian Greyhound eating, you guessed it,
A RAW CHICKEN WING. She started eating wings at 12 weeks old.
She eats 1 per day plus she snacks on chicken hearts and gizzards.
She also likes avocado, papaya, banana, raw lamb, blueberries, and she finds garbage at the park …pizza, chips, cooked rice and chicken even M&M. Can’t do much about her junk food diet while scavenging, that’s why it’s important she eats well at home. She is a real chow hound. She also gets various supplements from Standard Process.
Does size matter: Juicer rubbish is another great thing to feed the bigger dogs and the juice is great for you dog owners, too.
Introducing Wellness Dog Food
You don’t want to suddenly throw down a raw chicken wing. Begin by introducing healthy choices into your dog’s normal dog food.
Mix some cooked oatmeal or brown natural rice into your dry or wet food. Add in lean baked chicken, pork or turkey the next few days.
Baked or steamed sweet potatoes is an all time favorite, as well as carrots. By the third week, you can eliminate the can or bag dog food all together and be on your way to a wellness dog food menu.
When you are ready to go raw, simply take the items that you have been feeding your dog from cooked to raw. Remember introducing a change to your dog’s diet is a gradual process. Folks who make the change to wellness dog food notice their dogs have more energy, less allergies, healthier coats and look forward to feeding time…YUM,YUM!
Besides feeding your dog Wellness Dog Food, make sure to exercise by taking walks.
